| The Liquefied Natural Gas Product Development Center (PDC) was established by ConocoPhillips and Bechtel in 1998. The PDC is a focal point of both the cooperative intellectual effort to improve the Conoco Phillips Optimized Cascade SM Process and process simulations performed in connection with engineering studies and conceptual projects. The PDC is responsible for improving the product by carrying out process optimization studies, value engineering, work processes automation and design studies. The PDC goal is to ensure that the Conoco Phillips Optimized Cascade SM Process and resulting facility designs remain competitive, as measured in terms of schedule, cost and client satisfaction.
The PDC also evaluates the optimization of all other aspects of LNG projects. The PDC explores ways to reduce the total cost of plant ownership and to further enhance the overall commerciality of the facility. In this regard, the principal areas of focus are: procurement methodology and procedure; construction innovation; engineering design innovation; cycle time improvement (of all varieties); and optimization of operating practices, procedures and costs.
